| Description | An Engineering Design and Construction Management firm has an immediate opening for a Civil Project Engineer for an assignment located in White Plains, NY. Responsibilities: Provide project management and engineering support during construction of the project; verify contractor's performance against specifications, codes and drawings; anticipate construction restraints and initiate corrective action; monitor construction activities to ensure that design, specifications and contracts are followed and that the work is performed safely and in accordance with the schedule; implement construction inspection and monitoring program; ; prepare inspection checklist and testing procedures and prepare and issue monthly project status and progress reports. Minimum Requirements: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of engineering design and construction management. Previous experience with inspection associated with Electrical, Mechanical and Civil aspects is desired. Knowledge of engineering and construction practices is necessary. The ability to travel to different client sites as well as our worldwide vendor facilities for construction activity support and to inspect equipment fabrication and commissioning is imperative. Excellent planning, organizational, leadership, collaboration, teamwork, decision-making, verbal and written communication skills are essential. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Internet Applications. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Maintain all technical and financial documentation relevant to installation work required for project closeout. Coordinate with internal departments such as Environmental (regarding proper waste disposal procedures), Budget, Contracts, Marketing, Law, Risk Management and Public Affairs. This position is long term, expected to start ASAP and last a minimum of one (1) year. | Qualifications | Required Skills 1. Knowledge of state-of-the-art construction techniques, project management, contract administration, and civil structural design. 2. Knowledge of changes and advancements in the industry. The incumbent must have a perspective across engineering disciplines. Must be familiar with scheduling, estimating and cost control. 3. Excellent interpersonal skills. 4. Ability to plan and manage long-term projects, strong project management and organizational skills are required. 5. The individual must be able to work independently with minimal supervision at times at remote locations. 6. Substantial knowledge of engineering disciplines and ability to consider the contractual, legal and financial implications of project related decisions and understand the effects on client and its’ customers. 7. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable. 8. PE license is desirable |
